Privacy Policy

Core Philosophy

ShadowPulse was designed with a "privacy-first" architecture. The name "Shadow" is a deliberate nod to our operational philosophy: to remain completely unseen and unobtrusive, leaving no digital footprint. We believe analytical tools should respect the user's anonymity and the integrity of the platform they operate on.

Our extension operates as an overlay. It does not scrape your private data, it does not read your private messages, and it does not track your browsing history at all.

Data Collection & Usage

User Identity

We do not associate your ShadowPulse usage with your Bitcointalk user profile. It is impossible for us to tie your extension usage to your forum account or real-world identity.

We do not track, log, or store your IP address. While the web server may collect standard connection logs for security, this data is never linked to your unique extension identifier. Your activity remains completely anonymous.

Custom Privacy

By default, your activity is reported under a generic alias (e.g., 'Silent Phoenix') derived from your internal ID. You have the option to set a unique "Two Word" public ID, but this is solely for fun and has no relation to your BitcoinTalk Forum ID.

Page Interaction & Search

We do not read the DOM of the pages you visit for content extraction unless you explicitly Pulse a post. The extension reads the browser URL only to identify the Topic ID and Board ID for statistical aggregation. We do not analyze the text of posts, signatures, or user profiles.

When utilizing the Bitcointalk Search Page, our extension identifies the page strictly to inject Pulse buttons next to the search results. We do not log, track, or record your search queries whatsoever.

View Tracking & Pulse Votes

When you browse topics and boards on BitcoinTalk, the extension sends anonymous view statistics to our server to generate community engagement rankings. This includes the Topic ID, Board ID, and Topic Title you are viewing. This data is aggregated and cannot be traced back to your real-world identity.

When you click +Pulse on a post, we record the Message ID, Topic ID, Post Title, and Post Author you pulsed. This is necessary to display pulse counts and leaderboards. Your vote is associated only with your anonymous sp_public_id alias, never with your BitcoinTalk account.

Bitcoin Faucet & Optional Data

ShadowPulse includes an optional Bitcoin faucet feature. If you choose to participate and win, you may provide a Bitcoin (BTC) address to receive payouts. This address is stored securely and is only used to process your faucet winnings. Providing a BTC address is entirely voluntary and can be removed at any time through the extension settings.

Cookies & Storage

Browser Extension

The ShadowPulse extension uses Local Storage (not tracking cookies) for functional purposes only:

  • sp_public_id: Your anonymous public alias (e.g. "Red Hawk").
  • sp_uuid: Your secret restoration key (never shared publicly).
  • custom_name: Your chosen display name (optional).
  • sp_btc_address: Your optional Bitcoin payout address (voluntary).
  • sp_show_pulse: User preference to show/hide Pulse buttons.
  • sp_show_graph: User preference to show/hide the price graph.
  • sp_flash_logo: User preference for faucet logo animations.
  • sp_btc_source: User preference for price data source.
  • sp_theme: User preference for Light/Dark/Custom theme.
  • sp_bar_pos: Saved position of the floating toolbar.
  • sp_restore_acked: Whether you have acknowledged backing up your restore code.
  • sp_custom_light / sp_custom_dark: Your custom theme color presets.
  • sp_cached_price_stats: Cached Bitcoin price data for instant graph rendering (no PII).

The extension also uses localStorage (not cookies) for one item: sp_theme_sync, which stores your current theme mode solely to prevent a white flash while the extension loads. The extension does not use third-party tracking cookies or external advertising trackers.

Technical Implementation

DOM Injection: To display the ShadowPulse interface, we inject specific elements (Pulse Buttons) into the webpage. This process is strictly additive and "blind" to the page content—meaning the extension does not inspect, read, or depend on the existing structure of the forum to render its overlay (beyond finding the posts to attach buttons to). This ensures that your browsing context remains private.

Custom Themes

ShadowPulse offers visual Custom Themes capable of altering the layout of Bitcointalk. These modifications are strictly client-side CSS and DOM restyling designed entirely for personal aesthetic preference. Custom Themes do not capture, aggregate, or extract any forum text or user data. They only adjust how existing site information is presented within your browser.

Third-Party Data

The extension fetches anonymous Bitcoin price statistics from shadowpulsev2.b-cdn.net/stats.json to display the live price ticker and sparkline graph. This request contains no personally identifiable information.

Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your anonymous activity data may be displayed in aggregate form on public leaderboards (e.g., "Most Pulsed Posts," "Most Visited Topics"). Individual user identities are never exposed beyond your chosen sp_public_id alias.

Data Retention & Deletion

To maintain the accuracy and relevancy of our rating system, the system may archive or remove votes associated with UUIDs that have been inactive for long periods.

If you wish to delete all data associated with your account, you can do so by removing the extension. Your server-side records will be purged automatically after extended inactivity. For immediate deletion requests, contact us at the email below.
